Last trip of the year

I still had time and managed to squeeze in a last trip for this year. My mom, a friend and I went to Tallinn yesterday. It's so easy to go there since it's only a 2 hour trip with a ship. We left early in the morning and got back around 10 pm. A lot of walking around the old town and shops. Thought I would find a lot of things there since all the shops had sales but didn't really find anything at all. Might also be a good thing since that meant I saved some money!

Of course we had to have some Mulled wine (which we call glögg here). I was excited when I found out that they still had their Christmas square going on, since the one here ended the day before Christmas.

The city looked so pretty with all the Christmas lights and the buildings lighted up. My friend and mom where hopping hand in hand down the street looking like two 10 year olds. Bless their hearts ;)

Still amazes me that my friend and I have known each other since 1999 when I started in the same kindergarden as her. After that we've been in the same schools and still to this day keep in touch and go on trips like this. We say that we are more than friends we're like sister since both of our parents get along and her dad is like a dad to me and my mom is like a mom to her.

P.S Who's excited for New Years ? I know I am !

It's Christmas Time

Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope everyone had a love and food filled Holiday. I spent a slightly different Christmas than we usually do. My mom and I spent the night in Turku  in a hotell. It's a 2,5 hour drive from home.

This is how I spent the days before Christmas, from buying the christmas tree to decorating it, packing packages and of course making gingerbread cookies. And decorating them as well.

We arrived in Turku on Christmas Eve and had dinner at the hotell. One of the best services and food I've had in awhile. They had all the food and desserts you can imagine eating during Christmas. Very pleased with it. And of course I eat way to much than I should have. After dinner we went and walked by the Aura - river that passes trough Turku.

As I've stated before Christmas is one of my favourite holidays, just with all the lights and the importance of being together with loved ones.

One of my favourite parts was this bridge that was full with trees on both sides and lights. And if that wasn't enough there were lights that changed color and at some points you could hear wolves howling. I fell in love with that bridge and we stayed there with mom for a good 20 minutes for sure.

But now it's the sad part with Christmas ending, until next year. Now it's time for New Years celebrations and reflecting on the year that has passed. Also this year it's my turn to host the New Years get-together in our friend group. Excited for that!

'Tis the Season

Crazy to think 2016 is almost over and we're in the last month of the year. It feels like the older I get the faster the years go. Just a couple of weeks left of work before Christmas break and then it's New Years. This Christmas will be special because my mom and I are spending it slightly different than others, excited to make new memories this way.
I love Christmas time! It's so pretty with all the lights. And all the food is to die for, so good! Just hope we get some snow for Christmas, because right now all we had a couple of weeks ago has melted away.

And since Christmas is almost here I decided to share some of my favorite Christmas songs. Enjoy!

John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War is over)

U2 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

Michael Bublé - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

(His entire Christmas CD is one of my favs)
